That's a fantastic deal. Will be interesting to see what price Argos put the £97 Bush DS-BD01 back up to when its promotion ends on Dec 9th - looks like it might have some serious competition from the Sony.

Hi,

I'm after a bargain player, so which of the two is the best deal? I also noticed an add by Blockbuster who had the Sony at £199.99 but with 6 free Blu-ray titles Batman, Casino Royal, Hancock, Iran Man, Mamma Mia and Wall.E does this make this an even better deal?

Hi Again,

Having read a few posts down the line I think you have already answered my question. So I'm off to Blockbuster and I don't mind having to send off for a couple of titles.

You get "Wall-E", "Hancock" and "Mamma Mia!" through Amazon, you then send away for "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale" through Sony!

Great deal for Christmas eh!

Just bought this off Amazon this avo, although it was up to 159.

I got the 3 free blu ray disks, will apply for the additional 2 through Sony when it arrives, and purchased 2 dvd's and black hawk down on blu ray (all on the buy 3 get £15 off your sony)all for £167.

So, 6 blu ray discs, 2 dvd's and a blu ray player all for under £170!! Well chuffed.

Dont hold your breath waiting for the discs from Sony. Bought mine in september and still waiting 3 calls to customer services and still nothing. Very poor service if you ask me.

I ordered and received mine before they cheekily put the price back up to £160. Will register the player asap now for hopefully a prompt delivery. Doesn't really matter when they come as they come in as now have enough BDs to watch over Christmas.

Sadly i am still awaiting mine, had difficulty registering, sorted after what was a age, still no discs :(

I am not after help just a passing comment that i could not get the provided disc to work for whatever technical reason. In the interim i registered direct off the sony uk site, i think that has cost me two blurays now when the disc finally done as it should and i met the full T & C's!!

I registered my player online using the supplied CD-ROM around Christmas. I had tried online but didn't get anywhere. Only if you use the CD-ROM AND after you've completed their survey I believe that you will receive your discs. I got a on-screen message at the end of this long-winded process saying that the whole thing was completed, without ever getting any email from Sony about them discs. I'm glad they've turned up in the end.

To add my experience to this "free Blu-ray discs" thread. I purchased a S550 in December from Amazon. They sent out the three free one's and I registered on the Sony website with the included disc for my two free discs.

At the end of the process it did say that I would receive them, and I am pleased to say that I did last week. It seems strange that other posters made their "claim" months before me and still no discs.

Interestingly both Casino Royale and Hancock were slim U.S. style cases as opposed to the thick one's in the shops.

Just a update, my free discs arrived today, so i am now happy but it was not a pleasant "registering" experience!
