Sonos has confirmed that its dedicated Sonos Control handset will be discontinued from May.

Mind you, as you can already buy an iPod Touch for less money and use it to run the Sonos Controller App - or use an Apple iPhone/Android phone/tablet instead - it's no surprise....

Shame they didn't make it cheaper - as in my house with loads of kids a dedicated controller is essential as oytherwise I have to leave either my ipad or iphone around for them to use.

If it had been around £100 i would have bought one but at their price it was cheaper to use the app.

This was hinted at by the customer services person, when I had a screen issue with one of mine.

For anyone who has bought one recently. Have no fear, Sonos customer services told me that purchasers of the controller would be treated 'very favourably' should there be any issues with their operation. :) :) :)

Still the best customer service.

Interesting that they haven't officially said anything on the website (not even on the blog), they've just quietly removed any reference to it.

Makes sense after going to the effort of adding Sonosnet protocol support to Android-based platforms

Their first feature on the website is the control app though - probably a subtle hint.
