Hi all

Help me please!!

I need a simple to use but sounds ok system to play an Ipod through.

I would like it to be in 2 rooms not one and also maybe connect to pc wirelessley??

I have seen Philips WACS7000 and wondered if anyone had one in use?

My budget is sub £200

Cheers

Don't know anything about the Philips I'm afraid, but, although a bit over budget, the Sony AIR-SA20PK is worth a look - got 4 stars in this month's WHF and available from Play for £229 (though may be found cheaper elsewhere). Or there's the Griffin Evolve (again a bit over budget if you can find it for sale new) - lets you take the little speakers into different rooms so some flexibility. Unfortunately, neither give you access to your PC tunes.

I'm have been struggling for weeks with this mahussive dilemma.

I'm looking for a good/great quality means of listen to music from my iphone (3gs) - or ipod classic - AND my MacbookPro, without using my cinema setup (which I've been doing till now). I've been pondering buying an airport express to stream music to this music playing device using an optical cable from the airport express to the input jack, so a requirement has been a digital input.

Up until now I've been torn between:

B&W Zeppelin; << looks the best but IMO a bit too heavy on the bass

Epoz Akitmate minis and ; << like these but unsure of digital input and haven't been able to listen to a pair.

Some Fatman tube amp (+ some non-fatman speakers) << least favourite option because of space required.

Today I stumbled across the Revo IKON which has thrown another spanner in the works. The question is, does the IKON compare to the Aktimate's or the Zeppelin.. Remember the AE would cost £80 making the B&W+AE=£470, which is the absolute MOST I am willing to spend. Hence if the IKON is even nearly close to the others, it would pose a potentially worthy victor.

Anybody else had this problem and came to a conclusion? Any other suggestions?

Cheers, John

If you want to play your music in 2 rooms wirelessly, your best bet would really be to use your computer as the source and stream to powered speakers/hi-fi/radio with aux in via Airport Express. You could improve the amplification when funds allow.

I started out with the idea of using airtunes to play music but soon realised that I don't want my laptop running whenever I wish to listen to my music through my music system(s). Similarly, I have a nice cinema setup, but don't want my big hog AV receiver vamping up my electricity bills.

I have a little ipod dock (Tivioli iSongbook thing) that is perfectly fine for the kitchen, but in the lounge I would like a good quality music source with access to all my music library (not just what's on my ipod or iphone), but don't need the power to blow the roof off... ever (like my av amp). I've been looking quite extensively at suitable setups such as the Zeppelin, Aktimate, Revo IKON and now the Sonos S5...

hmmm -- I hadn't considered the Pure Avanti Flow.

Another added to the list. I wish someone could just say... "Buy this one ___ it's the best"

haha... nice... Do you have one by any chance Purely?

Thank you though... It is looking more desirable.

Can anybody else vouch for the avanti flow as for general sitting room listening? The zeppelin is the main contender so far (seeing as I'm yet to hear the sonos S5), but a little bassy.

Available on Amazon for £203.84. The Sony does seem to tick all the boxes for you. Plus, you can add units for additional rooms.
