some advice needed

im looking to buy my first hifi in over 10 years (my last one was technics sthd51) and im after a little advice, for a long time i played music on my computer through powered studio monitors (alesis m1 actives) which give a lovely sound with a good bass. now after reading reviews on the site im opting for the denon dm 37 dab micro unit but im after advice for speakers with a good bass and im wondering if floor standing speakers are better than bookshelf or is the unit to small for floorstanders, thanks for any advice.

my dad bought the denon with warfdale diamond 9.1 speakers and he thinks its great (so do i) if you can still find a pair try those, or the newer 10.1.

can't remember the power of the denon though so not sure about floorstanders, although if you're after a similar price speakers i think stand mounts would be a better bet in terms of quality.
