So...... what about DAB+?

So I have just heard about the existence of DAB+

DAB is something that I kind of bought into when it first came about..... it seemed like a good upgrade, in terms of functionality. I bought a Pure Evoke II and it was a nice little unit.... some of the stations were a bit funky but in terms of getting BBC stations and some of the better commercials it seemed cool.....

Then I got interested in hi-fi and I began to amplify the output and DAB did not seem like such a clever idea..... low kps meant that, although it seemed (at first glance) a nice package, it was pretty disappointing in terms of performance (I have yet to connect the Pure up to a DAC).

I am currently looking for a tuner and have decided to go back to analogue...... I assumed that DAB would sink under the weight of internet radio, satellite radio and radio packages delivered through things like Freeview, Freesat and Sky..... I am looking at Denon T-260L Mk II and Arcam T51 and T61's.........

Well today I heard about DAB+.... I have not really had a chance (have not found a suitable site with the information) to look at the package...... so I thought I would come here and ask after it.

Anyone know about it? Is it a realistic proposition and what are you thoughts about it?

Denon TU260-Mk2 is a fine buy, cheap as chips and sounds great (used to own one).

BUT...

Great chance to go retro and pick up a classic old unit off Ebay; there's stacks of them and you can land a real champ. Got myself a Sansui TU-317 for a song and it's a great unit. Cost me £45 and the performance easily matches anything else I've had radio-wise (several over the years). Plenty more like that on the likes of Ebay, Gumtree, etc.

Check out the www.fmtunerinfo.com site too; worth a browse.
