Can anyone recommend small passive speakers + amp that would give the active Dynaudio MC15's a good fight for the money?!
I.e. total budget of no more than £700, and ideally closer to £550. Only considering new equipment. It's to be partnered with a computer + DAC setup.
I'm most concerned with clarity, esp. vocals & being able to distinguish different instruments. Powerful bass is not crucial.
So far I've auditioned...
- B&W 686, Dali Lektor 1, Epos m5i, Kef IQ10, Quad 11L2 & the powered Aktimates
- Budget Cambridge Audio, Rotel & Marantz amps,
...all of which sounded good in their own ways but not as good to me as the active Dynaudios. For me, Kef's came closest.
Any other passive speaker + amp combos, or should I just forget my concerns about the practicalities (such as volume control + plugging in >1 input) & price of the active Dynaudio MC15s and get them?!
Any thoughts much appreciated..
