Just wondering, we often read/hear of kit (speakers/amps etc) that are better suited to a larger/smaller rooms.

Just what constitutes a small room, or in fact medium or large rooms??

Is there a rule of thumb for this, for instance our main room for the tv/av set up is 4m wide by 5m long, is this medium or large?

Is small anything less than 3m x 3m for instance or would this also be medium.................??

And then, what kit is room appropriate, again we read of excellent sub/sat systems, are they just the preserve of small rooms or do they bridge to medium.................are they tested in both, and if so what size were the rooms?

Having been to WHF Towers their main listening/viewing rooms are large (as in large) and acoustically treated, do WHF create smaller listening areas for various different systems?

Would be interested to know.

4x5m is fairly average, I'd suggest, so medium. 3x3m is small, and yes we have rooms of a variety of sizes, in which systems are tested, as well as reviewers often taking systems home in order to try them in different environments.
