Which is the best way to connect sky+ to Onkyo 606 ,i have a Monster scart to S-video lead,a QED scart lead and a QED optical lead , for better quality am i best connecting optical sky to onkyo and scart from sky to tv or just scart /s-video from sky to onkyo ,i was hoping to only have the one hdmi lead so it cuts down on clutter.i'm getting my Onkyo delivered today (very excited like a big kid)so i want to get things set up right thanks.

Sky+ direct to TV via RGB Scart, optical audio Sky+ to Onkyo.

Taking the Sky+ down to s-video and then upconverting it via the Onkyo will give you the single HDMI connection you're after, but picture quality will suffer.

Having had Sky HD right from the start, I'd say yes it's well worth having, even if you're not into sport (which I'm not).

Nothing about the Freesat offering so far has got me reconsidering that decision.

Well ive finally got my onkyo 606, tannoy f1,mj accoustic mk100 all set up and its superb, just a question(again) when i used the auto calibration the result was 60hz for surround speakers and had to manually change to 80hz as recommended by where i bought it ,are there any other recommended settings for the calibration?

Its just that i read you could damage your speakers if this setting is too low,but i would't know any different so was double checking, should i run the calibration again or manually put the rears back to 60hz? The people at creative -audio told me a minimum of 80hz! thanks andrew.

Set the sub to its maximum roll-off (RO) setting (120/LFE), and to almost full volume (ie abourt -10). The phase setting is fine at 0.

Now run Audyssey again.

The receiver does the crossover and level setting for the sub, so the controls on the sub itself are all but irrelevant, and the Audyssey system is expecting to see the sub set to LFE (ie full range) and with just about maximum gain.

If you still feel the sub level is a little high after doing this, turn it down a bit, either using the low-level input gain control on the sub or those in the receiver's speaker menu.
