Ten James Bond films will be broadcast in high definition next month, Sky has confirmed. The Sky Movies team said that Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale would be among the films broadcast during a Bond HD season on Sky Movies Modern Greats HD.

"If there’s any film franchise that should be shaken not stirred with a bit of HD magic, it’s got to be Bond," the team said.

The films will also be available on Sky Anytime.

Now that is Great news , i cant wait , if there good ill get them on Blu-Ray ! X

There'll be a double-bill for each day of the season, which kicks off with Casino Royale and From Russia With Love next Sunday. Next Monday is then From Russia With Love and The Man With the Golden Gun (excited about that one, as haven't seen it on Blu-ray yet...) And that's as far as the Sky planner goes for now!

Am hoping it'll be the same HD transfers Lowry did for the Blu-ray releases - no reason why not, as they were done for Fox (who own distribution rights), who of course are part of News International, like Sky.

You won't get the cracking DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack like you do with the BDs, but nonetheless, i'm looking forward to more HD Bond!

It is indeed good news but don't forget that broadcast HD is 1080i whereas the signal derived from BluRay is 1080p, which contains much more information. The Bond films on BluRay are jaw-dropping. In fact if you take the time to watch the Lowry Digital infomercial contained as an extra on the Dr.No disc, you can see the painstaking work that has gone into the restoration.

Watching Dr.No on my Sony 350 and KDL52W4500 you almost feel queasy looking at the amount of grease that the actors use on their hair. The colour reproduction and overall resolution of these films have an almost three dimensional appearance.
On BluRay, they look like films made last year but set in the sixties.

HD tv is great but for the absolute HD experience in video and audio, it has to be BluRay.

I agree (blog here including interview with Lowry) - but only a handful of the restored Bonds are out on Blu-ray yet: this season will be first time lot of people get to see more Bond in HD
