Sky HDMI splitter problems

I have recently bought an HDMI splitter, so that I can run Sky into my lounge and cinema room. However, since installing, it would seem if a switch in the house goes (eg, thermostat or even someone turning on light), I temporarily lose the signal to my lounge for a second or two which is very annoying. I am assuming a surge protector may rememdy this problem? Just wondered if any had experienced the same? Thanks!!

Sounds like the signal level on the HDMI connection system is marginal, and the interference by the light switches, etc. is just enough to cause the signal to unlock for a moment. You could try a filter device on the power supply for the HDMI switch, or cables with better shielding, but there's no guarantee either will resolve the problem.
