Just a quick one I hope. I know that there's lots written in these forums on dodgy Sky HD boxes and the box comes with the standard 12 months warranty. I've had my box for about 2 months now and whilst very happy, I'm wondering if 12 months is enough cover...

Has anyone taken out the extended Sky HD repair plan @ c.£8 per month? Is it worth the extra money to cover the box against any gremlins past 12 months?? Are there any alternatives?

Any experiences or advice would be much appreciated.

Well mines just run out and if it goes wrong I plan to get one at the new price of £75. Anyway I'll be undertaking a 1TB HD upgrade soon........so they wouldn't cover it anyway

Thanks for all your replies. I guess the consensus is not to bother, hope that nothing goes wrong and if it does... Cancel my existing subscription and sign up again using girlfriend as a 'new' customer

Works as long as you aren't married (i.e. same surname!)...

You can get HD boxes off ebay for £150 anyway, so worth the gamble in not getting the insurance...

I'm a firm believer that if it's going to be a lemon, you will know long before the 12 months is up... My Sky+ is now 5 years old and still going strong (albeit with a 160GB drive upgrade!)

Nice one Fatboyslimfast. I'll hold off from marriage, just in case my Sky HD box gives up the ghost and we need to get a new one!!!!!!
