Sky+ and DVD Recorder vs PVR?

Hi All,

I wanted your views on whether I am better off going for the Sky+ box with a DVD recorder for archiving or a PVR with DVD Recorder?

I mostly watch TV series and movies and would like to archive these.

All thoughts welcome!

Purely subjective opinion is that the picture quality on Sky+ is better than that on any Freeview PVR I've seen to date

I'd second that. And in addition, Sky+ offers full Dolby 5.1 surround sound - none of that on Freeview!

Hi there,

Is it possible to record from Sky to a DVD recorder? I was under the impression that due to encoding, playback of recorded material had to be through the decoder in the Sky box. Is this a problem that can be worked around?
