My first surround receiver was a Sherwood. Bought it in 1997. I like their product actually but over the years, they are seldom featured. The website still there http://sherwoodusa.com/

There is a link to Sherwood Newcastle as well, And it looks like they are still in the game as I saw a 7.1 channel AV receiver on that site.

Sherwood Europe website here - AFAIK at the moment not actively distributed in UK, but I believe there are plans to expand distribution in the near future.

What are they like? No idea - it's ages since we've had any product for test.

A friend of mine used to own a Sherwood stereo receiver & CD player. From what I can remember about it, not great. Ok if you are looking for a budget alternative to the big names.

He purchased his from Richer Sounds but they no longer supply the brand.

From memory (I had a Sherwood integrated amp about 15yrs ago) they were reliable but distinctly average sound-wise.

Good VFM though, as the amp only cost £60 or so, so for a get-you-started system, it was pretty reasonable, although any 2nd hand rotel for the roughly same money would have blown it away at the time...

Vintage Sherwoods here:ÿhttp://adayandalife.com/sherwoods.htm

There's an email link on the guy's site. He might be able to help.

My first amp was one of those Sherwoods. I inherited it from my father. It was his first wedding anniversary present from my mum. Lovely warm 70s sound. Ah, the memories...ÿ
