Hi,

Just wondering if its worth getting a pair of headphones for music listening when I have this headset?

Would a pair of phones under £200 be any better?

Lee

I haven't heard those headphones specifically but I would imagine another pair of headphones for that price could impress you more. Mostly you could take the opportunity to find a sound that suits you prefered tonal balance better (unless the PC360 is perfect for you muscially, which is unlikely). I just tried a pair of AKG K550's in a shop over the weekend as was extremely impressed by them (nice bass, nice mids and drive really well off my crappy phone). If you could do something similar that would be your best bet, if you can't test anything out yourself then I probably would stick with what you've got.

Thanks quadpatch,

I will take a look at those K550's using my pc360s as reference.

Plus a friend is bringing some Grado's round for a comparison in a few days. (forgot to ask which ones though :shifty🙂

That would be great. The Grados will be super open and very powerful on the midtones. I guess your budget might be able to stretch to the Grado SR225i, you could also try the Shure SRH940 to see what you think of those. For a bit less money there is the Audio Technica M-50 which I only found recently but is a really great performer. What kind of qualities are you looking for from the bass, isolation, size/portbility, soundstage, comfort etc.

By the looks of your PC360's they are fairly comfortable, pretty big, poor on isolation but decent on soundstage, average with bass. Are you open to the option of including an external DAC/headphone amplifier to increase your sound quality? What soundcard do you have now?

Hi again. Sorry for late reply.

I think the sure's would be my best bet tbh. As far as I can tell sure offer great all round quality. Which is what I enjoy as I prefer to listen to music as close to the original recording as my budget allows. When listening through headphones I find myself homing in on certain sounds like cymbols and fret noise. Im not particularly fond of excessive bass or trebble. (not the best answer eh 🙂 )

My sound card is a xonar but not top end. Its pretty good though.

My mate did bring the grados round and they sounded really nice but i prefer the comfort of my 360's. You can wear them for hours without noticing.

going to go and try the sure's this weekend and make a final decision. Thing I am dreading is spending out on new phones but still using the old ones cuz I cant let them go.

Thanks

Lee
