Hi everybody,

I am in the middle of redoing my flat and was thinking of puting
areial/dish for freeview/freesat reception.

2 questions with that then:

1. Do I need two of them - standard aerial for freeview and dish for freesat
(with my existing aerial - Cristal Palace area, I am not getting all freeview
channels – but with small aerial from Argos with amplifier I can have all of
them – that is why I was thinking of putting new aerial outside the window to
get all freeview channels without any problems). Or maybe the dish would sort
everything out and I would have all I need in one – freeview and freesat?

2. Does anybody know good, reliable place to go to for arranging
installation? And what about the hardware (dish,... ) – any suggestions? I
could buy recommended dish first and then arrange installation. I don’t want to
have any cheap stuff installed. Or maybe there is not such a big difference and
any dish will do?

Thank you very much for all you help in advance.....

As you live in a flat you may need permission to install a DISH for FREESAT

Quite honestly you don't need freeview and in my opinion you will get better picture quality through a DISH....and SKY is a rip off money making bad customer service deal

Call Spectrum Satellite Svs in Selsdon Croydon.

Get them to install the HUMAX FOXSAT HD FREESAT BOX, a 60CM DISH ( nothing less) , an INVERTO 0.2db LNB, and the necessary cable run. The HUMAX should cost no more than £160 and the £80 standard installation charge should cover the DISH, LNB and cable run. However that would be for a standard DISH and LNB. What I'm talking about here is a good quality DISH...60cm in SIZE at least for a higher gain reception so you may have to pay a liitle more for the installation but it will be worth it.

Their Telephone is 020 8657 9342....speak to Ray and negotiate a price...my gut feeling is that for everything you shouldn't have to pay more than £280.00

They will tune in everything for you.....even all the free channels........including SKY NEWS which are accessible via the Non-Freesat option.........and then there are the current two FREE HD Channels of the BBC and ITV with Channel 4 soon to follow at the end of the year

Hi Tallyho,

I've contacted Spectrum Satellite Svs and arranged I the
freesat installation dish installation. I mentioned that I want 60cm dish. On
the installation date the engineer told me that it's not 60cm dish but standard
45cm sky dish which will be sufficient. I called then and spoke to Ray and he
told me that they don't install anything else then 45cm dishes! Is that true? I
have 60% strength signal but he said its enough and it won't affect my picture
quality.

My picture from freesat is much worst then my freeview
picture from small internal aerial! It is really blur compared to freview. They
claim it must be problem with my box or some other stuff but not the dish or
installation itself..

Is that true and there is nothing I can do to make it look
better. I am using for now only Scart connection but for freeview is exactly
the same so it shouldn't be any difference.

Thanks for all help and advice.

Hi everybody,
I had my freesat dish installation on today.

Even though I mentioned I would like 60cm dish installed they
told me that there is no point in doing that and they will install 45cm
standard sky dish. Is that true I won't gain anything from having bigger dish?

Now it is installed I have 60% signal strength, but again
they said it's fine and won't have any difference in picture quality if the
signal is stronger. Is that true?

I've connected everything to my TV and the picture is really
blur compared to my freeview (from small internal aerial)! I am using only
scart connection but the same cable for freeview. I am not talking about HD
signal as I can't test it yet (next month new TV) but only SD signal which is
really bad compared to my freeveiw. Is it true that there is nothing I can do
(bigger dish, better LNB, etc.. as they claim (installers). They say it's the
problem with my box, TV, cables,ect..
But all that works fine on my freeviw.. Please help.. Should I ask them to
change the dish or LNB or something on their side or there is nothing I can do
and that is really the problem of the freesat box (thay say that they may not
be RGB Scars outputs or something).

Please help...

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.

When you called them did they agree to install a 60cm DISH and if so I would have turned them away on the day of intsllation had they come down with a 45cm DISH. If they agreed to supply and fit a 60Cm Dish and you paid up front for this, the HUMAX FOXSAT HD box and installation then they must give you a 60cm DISH. I actually went up to a 60 cm Channel Master Dish about 4 years ago which they came and installed because the SKY MIni Dish iwas in my view inferior

The standard installation fee of £80 gives you just that....a standard LNB and a small DISH and cable

They do other DISHES http://www.spectrum-skytv.co.uk/c2499/Satellite-dishes.html

and on here you will see they also recommend a 60cm DISH https://www.satalogue.com/section7/60dish.htm

You also mention you are usuing SCART

You really need to be usuing an HDMI cable.

Also what TV have you got? If it's an HD ready TV then fine...try connecting it by HDMI to HUMAX FOXSAT

If it's a relatively unknown cheap HD ready TV which you can get from Tesco's for example you may well find it's the TV causing you a few problems

With the HUMAX FOXSAT, good LNB like the 0.2db INVERTO, a minimum size 60cm DISH and yes a reasonably good quality HD ready TV you should be OK
