I am really fed up with the situation I have ended up with trying to get this tv. I originally bought this from empire direct 2 days before they went bump and I am now trying to get me money back from the credit company (that is another story). I decided to purchase it from crampton and moore who got rave reviews from various forums so having had my fingers burnt once before took the plunge again. I actually went and got it from their warehouse in Sheffield. At first I was blown away by the pictures this screen was giving out. I was using HDMI and upscalling SD using a sony amp with farouda upscaler. The rgb scart is okay but not as good a hdmi input. The problem started 2 weeks ago. It started to shimmer down the middle of the screen and went dull at the top of the screen. cramton and moore agreed to swap the tv out as it was within there permitted timetable of events. The problem was that they did not have any more and were not likely to get any from samsung. They suggested that I try samsung direct which I did and they said they would send out an engineer as there policy was to repair rather than replace. The sub contracted engineer arrived and the problem seemed to have disappeared. I told the engineer what the problem was and he said without any investigation that it needed a new motherboard. It was pretty obvious he didn't know what the problem was as he said this was new model he had not come across. He didn't even know what LED backlighting was. This did not instill any confidence in this companies approach. I think the problem is it has a patch of dullness which is uniform and the bottom patch flickers which suggests the LED's are at fault as they keep switching on and off. The tv is fine when first turned on but the problem starts after it has been on for several hours.
I know this has turned into a moan but when the telly is working the pictures are fantastic with really deep blacks and I mean pitch black. Have started to watch some of my DVD's upscaled and the quality is brilliant and has given the old DVD's a new lease of life.
If you want to pass on on any advice that is fine and if you don't that is fine too.
I have taken pictures of the fault since the engineer has been but this forum doesn't allow uploading of pics.
