S/h amp to partner Arcam Alpha 8 CD player

I recently picked up an Arcam Alphja 8 (not SE) CD player. I now want to find a s/h amp to partner it. I guess an obvious choice would be one of the Alpha amps frequently available on ebay. But what alternatives might be worth a punt?

I would get the Arcam Alpha 9...brilliant amplifier in every regard. If you don't like that, there's always the Rotel RA-03!
