Yes they are a big jump up in performance. (And I prefer the RS3s to the more expensive RS5s.)

I will try and post some text this time (just sorted the Compataility view setting on my PC)!!

All opinions welcome on whether the Rega RS3s are an upgrade in terms of sound quality over the RS1s, or do you have to go to the RS5s to hear a significant improvement?

Seconded, the RS5's were too boomey. The RS3's are beutifully natural sounding speakers, a bargain.

Not necessarily. Depends on what you like about the RS1s and what you hope to gain from the RS3s. Its not a win win upgrade in every case.

Also your room can be a big factor in the results.

I went from RS3 to RS1 with complete sucess.

Tread carefully . Long home dem would be my suggestion.
