Hello, newbie here!

I have a pair of 20+ year old Royd A7s and the surround has rotted away in some areas making a noticeable difference in sound quality.

Is it worth getting them repaired or should I bite the bullet and buy? Is DIY an option??

I'm living in Madrid so not sure on the speaker repair scene here.

Any advice greatly received. I know I've probably left info out, but I'm knackered and can hardly think to write this ; )

Cheers

Doug

There's a guy who's clearly a big Royd fan who runs this website: http://www.roydaudio.com/

Maybe he can offer some advice?

Speaker driver foam surround disintegration is fairly common on aging units, especially certain makes.

Most people recommend the DIY approach, it is fairly straight forward.

Should you wish for more details. A supplier, in the Netherlands, that specialises in uncommon makes, as well as providing good tutorials is - uses 2 web addresses:

Cheers Rob, I'll be sure to check that out. I contacted him a few years back but can't find the mails!!!!

Thanks for those links stumpy - I might just have to get my hands dirty!
