I now find myself in a similar position to Dan. My system is now complete, with the Roth Oli 2 speakers settling in as we speak.

Hooked up with QED Evolution XT speaker cable they already sound absolutely superb. These don't feel or sound like entry-level speakers at all. The stereo imaging these little boxes produces is very special indeed but what I like best of all is the honesty of these speakers. Finally I've found an affordable speaker that doesn't add fake weight to the bass. With the Roths you get what is in the recording. They go deep when required but they don't congest the sound with fake low-end warmth. Clarity and detail are exceptional and they seem to do the business across a wide range of music. Finally I am hearing the sound I've only imagined in my head before!!

Thanks to BrittonDave for the info on these speakers and the speaker cable recommendation. Thanks also to everyone else who has chipped in with advice. Will keep you up-to-speed on my thoughts as I live with these over the coming weeks.

I would say that I am glad you have finally found the system you are looking for but I'll give it a couple of weeks first....

Which speaker would you compare them with most Mr P?

Excellent synopsis as always, and I'm getting intrigued at around £100!

Hard to compare them to anything else really because, in my room and on the end of my kit, they seem more neutral than anything I've had before. Actually, in terms of soundstaging they remind me a bit of the MS Mezzo 2 but on early evidence the midrange is better than on the Mezzos.

Early days yet but I'm extremely impressed at this stage. Will report back after further listening.

yes pics.the firts post you made and the description make's me feel you are speaking of my ns-333.even if in the future you find them unperfect, you will still love them.

I will post pics when I get a chance.

I've felt so relaxed listening to the music today. In fact it is so enjoyable I wish I didn't have to a) go to bed tonight and b) go to work tomorrow, but that is life!!

since i got some new speakers two weeks ago ive watched no tv , watched no movies , just listened to music , ive bought around ten cds too , the most relaxing two weeks ive had in ten years .. lovely

A lot of the hi-fi 'mess' is leaving my abode now as well. The dedicated glass stand is on its way out and the hi-fi inserted into a more domestically acceptable piece of wooden furniture, and I've finally given up on vinyl, having sold the Technics SL1210. Vinyl provides far too much temptation to tweak, tweak, tweak and I don't want to get caught up in it all.

From hereon in its about the hi-fi enhancing the home with high quality music replay, rather than being about the hi-fi dominating the home. It all tends to get in the way of the music if we're not careful.

Very true and well put.

The more I keep reading about these speakers, the more intrigued I'm becoming still.

I really want Dali Lektor 1's but I keep getting a lot of setbacks in raising the necessary purchase money! These are looking more and more a pretty good budget alternative, although auditioning may be problematic at the moment. Care to give an update on how you're getting on with them Mr P?

hi fi newbie:Matt surely you aren't still happy with the speakers? lol

He'd better be!! lol

I am glad because it seemed like your discontent was just going to be a perpetual issue.

Have you got them near a wall? just wondered in case i ever take the plunge and use them for a second system

I've had a slight change of plan (like you? lol) and I've just emailed Mr Harvey's to see about arranging a demo of amp and speakers.

Now if they're available for demo the Mezzo's are on my list, but I've noted you've mentioned caution using them in a small room. May I ask why?
