Rotel RCD991 or another?

System: Rotel RSP 1066 processor and rotel power amps, Cambridge Audio DVD, Celestion F Series speakers, Van den hul hybrid between amp and processor, van den hul cleartrack speaker cable, IXOS XHD608 interconnect on DVD.

Music: U2, Sting, light rock also Clasical

I want to improve my 2 channel sound and know that a dedicated CD will go a long way instead on using my dvd player. I was thinking of a rotel and was told that the older RCD991 were very good and better than the new RCD1072, but they are as scarce as hens teeth. I know that system matching is important and was wondering what players people would recomend. I also dont mind buyind second hand if it will get a better sound per £ Budget +- £400 Thanks

The RCD 1070 was considered to be better than its successor, the 1072, so try looking out for a 2nd hand 1070.

Don't know how it compares to the 991 though.

Thanks Mr Orange. Does anyone know how the 991 and the 1070 compare?

Also doesn anyone know how Arcam or Cyrus would pair with the rotel?
