Rotel and B&W combo

At the moment my AV kit and Hi Fi is sharing speakers via the preouts of my AV amp. I'm moving the AV set up to it's own dedicated cinema room so i will be needing some speakers for the hi fi kit.

My hi fi kit consists of Rotel RC 1070 stereo amp and Rotel RB 1070 power amp. I'm thinking i should ditch the RB 1070 and do the following:

Rotel RB 1080 power amp partnered with B&W 804S speakers or Rotel RB 1092 power amp with B&W 803D. My hi fi room is 3,5mx5m.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Charl

I am afraid I can't offer you any advice as i am new to all this. However, can you let me know where you can get the Rotel RB series amp from as i thought this model has been replaced by the new 15 series.

I am currently looking at setting up a hifi system consisting of a Squeezebox box duet, Music server PC, B&W CM7 and a rotel amp. As i intend to just use audio streaming (flac files) i am considering purchasing a power amp instead of an integrated unit as i will not have a cd player etc. Would appreciate any views you may have on an amp suitable for this solution, my room size is much the same as yours (3.5m x 5.5m).

The other option i am considering (much more expensive) is the linn DS solution with linn majik series amp and speaker. I am demoing this on sunday and i hope i don't like it otherwise it will be painfully expensive.

Hi Paul,

The RB series is still available here in South Africa. I have sent my dealer an e-mail asking how long the RB series will still be available.

For the B&W CM7 speakers i'd partner them with the RB 1080 or RB 1070 or the new RB 1562.

Can't comment on the linn DS series, i have no experience with these.
