My room is 12' long and 10.5' Wide. Right now I have my speakers against the 10.5 foot wall with french doors that open up behind me. I find now that I have my Parasound power amp theres not enough room for these to breath in the middle. Would you try to move them against the 12 foot wall have two feet out and two feet away from side walls leaving 8 in the middle and about 6.5' to me. Doing it this way I would be able to open one french door to let the room breath a bit and to help with boom. I have had this set up for a while, and now that the powers out and I havent been happy this may be my chance, any suggestions.

Thanks

if you post a few pics, it would be easier to visualize the setup and give recomendations

having them further apart then they are from you, might leave a bit of a hole in the sound, making it obvious the sound is coming from the left and right. have you considered some corner bass traps? something like this. but obviously somewhere nearer to home.

you have to host them somewhere like flickr, then use the insert image button when you post, and put the pictures url in.

when you are posting there should be a little square with a tree in it, next to the smiley icon. just above where you type.

you have good equipment .... only thing that I can suggest is that you get an an expert in room acoustics to advise (perhaps some bass traps etc)

or alternatively, perhaps look at alternate speakers that will suit your listening room?

thanks for the patience guys and sorry about that. Bass traps might have to be a option right now that is against the 10.5 foot wall so the shorter of the two. When I listen I open the two french doors behind me to help but it just sounds confused. Before with my cyrus it wasnt this strong but with this Parasound gear it took everything up a notch now its difficult to enjoy when your hearing reflections.
Once again thank you.

It kind of makes sense but doesnt but does tell you how far you are away from the speakers. as i read it in my room I would be only 4' away and the speakers two feet out from either wall.

I've just spent the last hour tweaking the speaker set up by following the guide which is very informative. Unfortunately i'm unable to replicate the exact positioning if i did the speakers would in the living space and not very child friendly!!
I did though gain some better depth in the sound just by making some very small and simple adjustments to speaker set up by toeing them out slightly and pulling them away from the wall a little more and by moving the listening position 3 inches to the left.
Unfortunately the left speaker is 11 inches nearer to the listening position than the right so some careful adjustments had to be made to get the balance right.
If you had a dedicated listening room following those simple steps in system set up would reap dividends but as the majority (i'm only surmising) use there living space as a listening space then having your speaker out in the room cant be done.
Optimising what you have could bring you greater musical pleasure though as i've just found out!

Sometimes I wonder where my head is, I turned my gains on my JC2 off. I thought they were off the first time but nope I had them full gain and of course I did the same with my A21 so I turned my power amp to 1200 and turned my gain control on my pre by passed. WOW what a difference it actually sounds like a brand new system now to do some cheap room improvements for that added touch.
