Replacing Onkyo T X-R875 receiver

I'm thinking of upgrading my amp - Onkyo TX-R875 (purchased in 2007 I think!) - with a newer spec model. I like the sound and look of the Pioneer range but before I audition some, how far up the model range will I need to go to better the sound of the Onkyo?

I have just moved from an Onkyo 805 to a Marantz SR7007 and am exceedingly happy. The difference in music quality is much larger than the difference in movies. Just spend what you did on your 875 and you should see a healthy improvement.
