Replacement Amp

Hi. I've got some fairly old kit:

Cambridge Audio a3i amp

Marantz CD-48 CD player

Gale 2i speakers

The amp is just given up (no power). I'm going to have a go a repairing it, but if it's kapput, then I'm looking for a replacement. I'm on a budget, ideally under £200, but up to £250 and have seen Cambridge Audio Topaz range, Pioneer A20, Denon 520SE and Marantz 5004/6003 advertised within budget.

Anyone have a view on what would be the best replacement for the amp?

You thinking new or second-hand?

If new you can now get a Marantz 6004 for £200 or a Yamaha AS500 if you can stretch to £259

I'm thinking new! Is the 6004 a 'big' step up from the 5004, i.e. is it worth the extra money?
