Hey Folks

Any Metal folk out there that can give me advice on the best suitable cartridge for the RP3 playing Extreme styles of Metal? Ive got the Brio r and the Dali Zensor 3s already with my Apollo r and it sounds great! Next in line is the RP3 so i need help for this. My Budget is around the £2/300 mark.

Hi, not a response to your question, rather a request from me about how you find the Dali Zensor 3s. I've got the same brio r and rp3 tt and am looking out for new speakers. How do you rate them?

The Dalis are excellent speakers i use them for mainly Metal Music for that deep bass sound but ive also got the Q Acoustic Concept 20s for other types of music. I just switch between the two.The Qs have more detail with a tight bass but i find the Dalis has a nice deep bass sound to em.So what cart do you use with your RP3??

Have you heard the Quintet Blue Al ? Wonder how it sounds vs the 2M Blue / Bronze

Am noot in the habit of recommending things I haven't heard steve. It is much better than 2M blue, it should be at that price, not sure about 2M bronze as I have never heard it.

I'd say it was best I've heard so far in its price range.

You would have to bear in mind the the 2M range are moving magnets with replaceable styli whereas the Quintets are moving coil with fixed styli.

Thanks - that's interesting. I've been looking at the Q Acoustics 20s as well but it seems the consensus is they need the stands but I don't have room for stands. I've just got an Ortofon 2m Red at the moment. Having recently got the RP3 and Brio R, the plan was get upgraded speakers next. My Vinyl collection ranges from 80s/90s hardcore - ie. Husker Du, Fugazi, Shellac, Dinosaur Jr etc to 80s and 90s hip hop, to 60s and 70s stuff like Moody Blues, Diamond, Oldfield, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye etc so I need speakers that are fairly flexible. I may see if I can give the Dalis a test along with the Qs for comparison.
