Anyone in this forum has an opinion on the c.a. 840W or especially on the rega exon 3 . I cannot find any info on the exon 3 in this forum. How do they compare?. I would like to upgrade over the rotel rmb1075 buy buying a dedicated stereo power amp or monoblocks.

Thanks

You know my thoughts already, so I won't go on about it

The best way I can describe them is that if Rega made a Quad 909, the Exon would be it, only in monoblock form.

Hi David!

I`ve been reading a lot of reviews and on forums saying that the quads have a brilliant midrange, but the lack in the frequency extremes (exactly the contrary of my old dm 602s heehhe). So, in a word the exons sound brilliant in midrange, with short comings in the frequency extremes??

So i can just buy a quad 909 and save space in my hifi unit?

I didn't mean it that literally

I meant more like the Exons deserve the same praise that the 909 gets, as they're up with the reputation of the 909 as far as I'm concerned. Plus you get the benefits that monoblocks bring to the table. If you're talking about their tonal balance, no, they don't lack bass!

Oh I see.. Have you ever had the chance to listen to the 840w?

and what are your views on class d amps like the chord , how different do they sound from class a/b amps?
