Hi All

I'm looking to buy a record player and went into my local Richer Sounds.

They recommended two players - either the Pro-Ject Debut III or the Cambridge Audio Azur TT50. The Cambridge audio player is roughly double the price of the Pro-Ject

My question is what is the justification for the difference in price and is it worth me paying it?

Many thanks in advance.

There's a review of the Cambridge Audio Azur TT50 turntable in our current, January issue (page 12, to be precise).

In short, it's a souped-up Pro-ject deck and we don't think it justifies the price premium. We give some suggestions on alternatives in the test....

Thanks Clare

So is the Pro-Ject Debut III reasonable for its price bracket (£160)?

It most certainly is - listed in our Buyer's Guide as a five-star turntable, and an Award winner several times over.

However, Pro-ject's newer Genie (£125) is even better value for money.

or a second hand rega 3 for about the same price or if it has to be new then a goldring gr2 with the excellent 1012 cartridge can be picked up quite cheaply.
