Hi guys

I have some Super Dreadnoughts and have some silver sand on standby to fill the outer legs and inner columns.

I read a review on the net somewhere saying 175grams in each leg but they said 3kg of lead shot in each centre column. As i don't want to use lead shot can you guys recommend how much i should put in each column for the best sound?

Thanks

I think you'll be fine if you fill around 2/3 of the centre column with sand. Too much damping can make the sound stodgy.

But bear in mind that sand, even silver sand, isn't ideal, as it can soak up moisture from the air, and in extreme circumstances this can cause corrosion from within over time. Some speaker companies supply plastic bags to fit inside the stands and then fill, for just this reason.

These are a much better bet.
