Quad 9l Active

Iam considering the Audioengine a5+ speakers for my laptop but found these quads. Do the 9l Active sound good?

Not having rechecked, I think the Quad 9L isn't a truly active design; the slave loudspeaker draws power from the master which has an onboard amp. Effectively, one of them is a passive speaker, hence nearer to powered speakers than true actives. Apparently they still sound decent all that said however!
