PS3 settings when watching I player through TV

I have set up a PS3 to watch i-player etc on through my TV. All very good etc but after 10 minutes or so of not touching the PS3 remote controller the screen in effect fades. I've looked through the menus including power settings but no avail. Anyone know what to adjust?

Is there a reason why nothing is in surround sound on i-player?

Watched gavin and stacey and its only on the front, but when I watch on bbc its surround?

Is this normal.

As far as I'm aware, the BBC iplayer uses stereo, instead of Dolby Digital which you would normally get to hear on BBC HD.

yes very annoying this, i cant find a setting to rectify it either. its basically the same when the XMB is on-screen and you have not used the controller for about 10 mins, the XMB fades. Surely there is a setting for this????

In the settings on the PS3 there is an option to change the time before
the screensaver kicks in and dims the screen. Can't remember exactly
where it is but its definitely there as I changed mine to 45 minutes!

The iPlayer plays in surround sound for me (all the speaker light icons on my Yamaha 763 are lit, and the screen says PCM) so it must be the audio settings on your PS3 that aren't set correctly.

cheers fido, i'll have to have another look at the settings tonight and yes u r correct, iplayer deffo plays in DD surround. In fact, i'd go as far as saying the sound on ps3 iplayer is much better than when watching via sky box.

I have tried gavin and stacy and top gear, but nothing.

I get surround from everything except iplayer.

cheers PJPro, i wasnt 2 sure wat ur link was yesterday aft as it was blocked by the proxy server in work. all sorted last nite from home tho !! 🙂

From the XMB bar go to settings, down to display settings and then onto screensaver. You can select 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes or turn it off altogether.
