Project Genie III Cartridge and stylus upgrade

Hi,

I have a project genie III and am considering upgrading the ortofon om3 cartridge I am willing to spend upto £100 on a cartridge and stylus. What would be a good model to upgrade?

I want more detail on my LP so I'm thinking a moving coil. But which moving coil models can be used with genie III?

Hello, having seen your other post, re rondo red, i can tell you that the Project Genie is an excellent deck and can take a better cartridge, so if you crave an MC cartridge go for the Denon DL 110, goes into an MM stage of your amp and is quite simply superb. Ortofon 2m red is a good cartridge but nothing special in fact an upgrade to an OM 10 would be better and cheaper but do keep in perspective you have a lower range TT but the arm is good and will track a cartridge if set up properly, very well. Quick tip for set up of any cartridge, align the cantilever, not the cartridge body.

As per your other thread on this subject, stick with MM and the OM range. After you have tried the better OM styli (without the hassle of mounting a new cart) then move up to a better MM, not an MC as they will never better a good MM up to £500 or so.
