Hi..

I have denon CEOL N8. The notification to update firmware always appear when powered on, then i did it. After the process completed, all setting back to factory, but one thing that didn't reset is the equalizer setting. Actually the sound was reset, but the equalizer didn't. It bring the audio quality poor with more treble loss and some audio characteristic also missing. Now i don't know how to bring it back to previous firmware. Also denon never show to customer where to download firmware and upload it as offline update. The latest firmware for RCD-N8 is 2.59.

I blame to Denon as they never test the firmware before releasing it to public as online update. Anyone has same problem as mine ? Hope Denon technician also join in this forum and hear my complain and respond.

Wow I just read the decleration that Denon will take no responceabilty for anything a firmware upgrade may cause. That's rediculess. It's put me off ever buying a Denon product.

I'm replying because if you can find the previouse firmware and get it on to USB you might be able to reload it and get rid of the new firmware.

Try googleing the prviouse firmware. Also I'm sure you did but check you did everything correctly and there wasn't any problems with the download.

Have you tried the download again to see if the problem is rectified?

How many firmware updates have been released for the CEOL since you got it? If it's the first one you should be able to set the system back to factory default. Have a look in the manual.

My understanding is updates are only released to address and issue or impliment a new feature so I can't see why Denon wouldn't test them first.

I hope you get it sorted.

Yess.. i already reset it back to factory default, but seems the setting still not affected.. the bass is ok, but treble is so poor now.. i never get the clear & sharp sound again now.. i'm trully convinced what i did is correct. Just go to update menu and choose it, the process of download & installing continue until it reboot itself. Seems the sound from equalizer back to default but the ui (user interface) still lock at previous state before updating firmware where i put treble at max +10db & bass +8db.
Thats why i cannot add more treble on it.. i've been searching everywhere on internet for firmware to be downloaded. Never found it.. i thought denon was so careless to give users update firmware. They didn't check it first.. i already sent inquiry to denon asia even japan, but they still no reply me..

I know this may sound obvious but have you tried taking it all apart (like unpacking it for the first time) and setting it up again just to make sure a cable isn't loose or a tweeter hasn't blown. You could try connecting the unit to another set of speakers just to make sure.

O know it's personal preference but I would leave the trabel and bass on 0 to get the purist sound the system can give. By turning bass and treble up you are adding to the signal coming from the source, essentially mixing it again.

Of course if that's how you like to hear the music that's your choice.

I've several times unplug the speaker cable and plug it again, still the same. This happened after firmware changes.. And i'm sure the setting was locked inside, and i cannot do anything to add more treble.. If there's a site which i can download the previous firmware, i will try to upload it again. Hope everything will back as before.. Until now, no reply from denon for my problem..

Maybe try searching for the Asian version of the site.

I used to have trouble sometimes on the Denon site when I did FW upgrades at work. I guess you tried more than once?
