I have the primare I30 integrated amp powering a pair of Monitor Audio PL100's (the smaller platinum). Although it sounds good I feel these speakers are power hungry. I thought about bi-amping using the integrated I30 for the tweeter and adding the primare A30.2 power for the bass driver. My concern is that I use a Nordost Heimdall balanced XLR between CD player and I30(which was a huge improvement over the non balanced phono interconnects) but the pre outs on the I30 to the A30.2 are phono (no balanced option), therefore the whole chain would not be balanced. I know the alternative would be to get rid of my I30 and buy a pre30 to connect to the a30.2 which does have balanced pre outs....however this is more expensive. I suppose the bottom line is would the benefits of bi amping the I30 with the A30.2 outweigh any losses by the chain no longer being balanced?
