Power Cord Question

I use a dynex surge protector power strip that also filters EMI/RFI noise. My NAD amp is plugged into the dynex for power. The NAD amp has a power outlet in the back for additional equipment. So I can plug my NAD amp into the dynex, and then plug my CDP into the back of the NAD amp. This makes for a tidier cable setup. However, I'm just wondering, is it better to:

1. Plug the CDP into the NAD amp for power.

2. Plug the CDP directly into the dynex power strip for power.

3. Makes no difference, power is power...

Thoughts?

Surely the work of a moment to try both configurations?

My hunch is that plugging both into the mains seperately should sound better but I don't know this.

Some people would suggest plugging the amp into its own wall-socket (bypassing the 'Dynex') would sound better too.
