power amp or not?

what is the effect of adding a power amp to my a/v reciever and how will this impact on sound?

just wondering, any thoughts appreciated.

I used to have a denon av amp, which I then added an arcam P1000 power amp leaving the av amp on PRE amp duties only

The effect was far more detail, more power and better spatial effects

Really depends on what sort of money your talking
