I have aquired a Clearaudio Concept turntable and am attempting to connect it to a project phono stage. However the plugs at the end of the tonearm cable from the deck do not seem to be standard size audio plugs and are therefore loose in the phono stage inputs. I have never come across a non standard audio plug before and wonder how other owners of this decl have got around this problem. is there an adapter that im supposed to use or am being incrediably stupid and missing something fundemental altogether. any help appreciated thanks

Sometimes you get small tolerance differences between phono plugs and sockets, some too loose or tight. Most plugs that are loose are so due to the outer 'earth' contact. What we do is very carefully use a set of pliers and gently squeeze the splines of the phono outer contact to allow a tighter fit, the centre 'hot' pin is usually o.k. and needs no adjustment. Tolerance variation can happen even with the most expensive connectors so do not be too alarmed by the slack fit. Follow these guidelines and you should get them to fit better.
