Hi All,

The dealer who I plan to purchase the PMC Twenty 22 has only the black glossy finish. Is there a difference in sound between the black that is available and the Amarone that I want? Or is this just a stupid question?

Kindly advice.

Thanks & cheers!

'Amarone'?!

No, you're fine, they will sound identical. But hold out for the finish you want, don't just take what the dealer's got.

Are you sure?

Is it not possible that after the layers and layers of lacquer, that the cabinet of a high gloss black speaker could sound a little different due to it being less resonant? It may be a very small difference, but it might be enough for it to not sound completely identical...

🙂

Oooooh!

I'm sure you are aware that some manufacturers use resonances to produce the sound they want.

I agree there are no stupid questions, but there are usually plenty of closed minded replies.

I wonderful why they call it Amarone? It's a very nice red wine and not as far as I am aware a colour or type of wood. I would insist that the dealer gets you what you want and I would buy a bottle of Amarone (M&S do a decent one) to celebrate.

Folks...

Thanks a bunch.. I was also wondering whether the lacquer will change the character a bit. Am trying to push for what I want. Hope I get it!

Thanks again... best forum ever!

When I auditioned a pair, the Black version seemed to have a much darker sound, but it could have been my imagination?

However, I read that in a double blind test, a couple of visually impaired listeners couldn't tell what colour the PMC speakers were.

Their guide dog may have been able to, but couldn't impart the information. He was said to have confirmed that there were Woofers though...or at least it sounded like he said that..........
