I recently aquired a marantz pm6010ose in a good second hand deal. Also got a marantz cd5001 for my source. I was thinking of purchasing some mordaunt short avant 902i's as my speakers, so a few questions.

1. Do you think this combination would match well (I was gonna go for a low end azur cd player but whf warn about adding too much treble to the system).

2. I am confused about resistance. The speakers website claims that their resistance is between 4 - 8 ohms - http://www.mordauntshort.com/specifications.php?PID=47&Title=Specifications . On marantz website they list the output voltages for the pm6010ose in both 4 and 8ohms - http://www.marantz.com/new/index.cfm?fuseaction=Products.ArchProd_Specs&cont=eu&bus=hf&prod_id=119&type=amp&arch=1.

However, on the back plate of the amp right next to the binding posts, it says, 'speaker system: 8 - 16ohms'

Any help would be very much apprechiated as I am lost.

Does it say this along with "main and remote" or "both speakers"...?

Normally amps are fine with 4-8ohm for one set and 8-16ohm for two pairs at once... I'm sure the Marantz will handle it with no probs whatsoever...

Hi,

The Marantz will drive these speakers perfectly!

You made a good choice forgetting the Azur if you are new - far too bright treble. Most amplifiers will drive any speakers between 4-16ohms with just one pair - and then when you connect a second pair in parallel most are 8-16ohms.
