Just connected up my PS1 to Rotel RA-04 and B&W 685's and the sound is very good, Anybody else had any good experiences using the ps1 as a cd player?

Have a read through this article-

Well, after reading those articles I decided to give it a try. I thought the sound was rubish, maybe it's just me or that's a complete waste of attention... Oh, I have a PS1 SCPH 1002 for sale, hehehe.

Picked one up for a tenner earlier this year, thought I'd give it a whirl. Really very impressed with it - not as good as my current CDP, but not disgraced by it either. I'd love to hear the thoughts of people in a blind test with this.

I got one. Payed a tenner and it works fine. I used to have an xray v8 which did retail near 1000 and i cant honestly tell that much difference (xray is better but not by as much as you expect). I sold my xray as i now stream all my music from pc and cant be bothered to change cds etc every time i want to listen to a track. PS1 also plays Tekken which my xray never could! 🙂

I can say that the sound does improve the longer you leave it playing, It does sometimes sound a little bit veiled at times, i suppose its a nice sound not too digital.. piano and guitar sounds lovely also vocals are realistic, been listening to Paul Wellers wildwood and i'm very impressed.

Maybe Mattewpiano should give it a whirl i seem to think he likes the vinyl sound and also comes in at a good price ha ha.....

So mixed reviews on the old 90's console!!
