I've auditioned the Pioneer LX71 & LX81 with my Monitor Audio Radius HD speakers, & they sounded too bright & screechy for my taste. Yamaha, on the contrary, was very warm & sonic. So I went for the Yamaha. It's superb. I haven't heard the Denon, but people have said that even the Denon pairs well with Monitor Audio.

Ime Pioneer AV amps don't match Monitor Audio speakers too well as the combination sounds too forward.

However, Yamaha AV amps + Monitor Audio speakers = great match (time after time).

I would suggest that you also seriously consider Yamaha's DSP-Z7 AV amplifier.

Btw, which Monitor Audio speakers were you considering?
