I am just coming to the end of running in my new Pioneer 500a as previously advised on here, I was wondering if someone would kindly advise me now that my running in period has nearly finished what settings would be best to use so as to get the very best out of my new set. My viewing is mostly Sky, DVD's and also games on my PS3, I have heard of something called Pure Mode but have'nt really much idea so if anyone could give me any advice like maybe a standard callbration it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks All,

Yep. Pure is one of your pre-sets. You haven't used/found it yet so I'd say a professional calibration would be a good idea.

The 500A is supposed to be damn near perfect calibration 'out of the box'. Ive recently acquired a spyder 3 so going to check my dads when I next go round

Use PURE mode for HDMI inputs only

Switch off ALL the extra processing cr*p (DNR, Contrast enhance, black enhance etc)

I thought that is what 'pure' does anyhow ... circumnavigating all the picture enhancers/processing? Anyway, I noticed that on 500A/M owner forums many seem to prefer not to use pure and instead deviate to the other settings. There seems to be wide spread opinion that it looks rather dull, similar to some forum settings commonly suggested for the 5090. The 500A I saw was ISF calibrated so I can't comment on the usefulness/picture quality of 'pure'.
