PIONEER BDP 51 FD - can it play Region 1 DVDs?

I've got the Pioneer BDP 51FD and would like to know if it can play Region 1 DVDs? Someone told me that all blu-ray players are multi region and I'm not sure if it's true. I would like to think it is, as it opens up a lot of box sets that aren't available in Britain.

In my manuel for my pioneer bdp-lx71 it clearly states plays all regions.

And some online shops were trying to sell it for £20 more to make it multiregion.

So far as im aware you need a HARDWARE MODIFICATION for it to be multiregion capable for blurays

I believe it can be 'hacked' for dvds

It really depends on where you bought it from. If the seller hasn't told you about multiregion for DVDs, it probably isn't. It's not difficult to make it multiregion though. Why don't you check yourself if your player plays region 1 DVDs? If it doesn't, this is an easy option to make it multiregion.
