Which one between those two?

My speakers are the QUAD 22L floorstanders, and they are a little bassy.

In Greece (for some unknown reason) the Pioneer costs about 400Euros and the CA 499.

I don't want to spend more than 500 euros, but I want a decent amp.

Thanks for any help.

640 hands down. It's a wee bit bright, but much more revealing. Lots of detail comes through the better CA stuff.

You could do with listening to both because they are very different sounding units. What CD player/speakers are you using? Have you thought of the second hand market instead? My Nait 3 only cost about the same as a 640A and it wipes the floor with anything you could buy new for that sort of money (and, to be honest, most of the amps I've heard at twice that price).

vasada:fr0g:I'd take the Pioneer.

Can you tell me why?

Weirdly, I have only heard the CA (v1), and not the Pioneer, but although I would absolutely listen to both first, and then decide, I would pick the Pioneer if I had to simply choose blind.

...Both highly reviewed, Pioneer looks better imo, more minimalistic, and my memory of the CA (albeit V1) wasn't great. V2 may be much better.

There is of course the fact that in the UK the Pioneer is more expensive.

But as I say, I would not buy blind.

*edit (I would also try to spend a little more with the speakers you have...)
