The advantage of a good dedicated phono pre-amp is that it can be configured to match the cartridge (this is something to look for in a dedicated phono pre-amp, without configuration options it doesn't add much value). If there are no compatibility issues between your cartridge and the PM7000 phono stage, the improvements will be small.
