wanted to show the misses the new philips 9664 but places like curry's, comet etc no longer sell philips tv's anymore. can anyone answer why. dont worry though, only wanted to LOOK. would not be buying from there
John lewis seem to be the main stores that i have seen them....................Philips should really invest in some marketing people to work on their distribution. TV get good write ups but are a pain to find !

John Lewis do stock Philips but the problem is they are usually two models behind.
Philips sets are targeted at independent/specialist retailers plus some other multiple retailers - chiefly John Lewis. But no, you won't find them in the electrical multiples such as Currys and Comet.
John Lewis was selling the Aura in white last year started at £3,000. electriacl av shops were selling around £2,200 at the same time.
Well that sounds promising. I was thinking along the lines that the more places that stock the model you`re after the better chance you have of finding one a little cheaper. Also you may not particulary fancy one retailer for one reason or another and if they are offering the best price you may be able to get your favourite retailer to price match. It`s also nice to go down to your local shopping centre and actually see the tv you want in action rather than just a picture on a website.
John Lewis - Don`t think they will price match an online store but you will get a five year guarantee whereas a lot of online retailers only give you two and you have to pay a few hundred pounds more to extend it.
Anyway, now that I`ve waited this long my ultimate tv will (hopefully) be a 37" Philips LED and with any luck could be available in the new year.
Is it just me or is philip lcds in sevenoaks a new thing? sort of in line with the new online shop?
Sevenoaks - like many specialist retailers - has been carrying a small selection of TV brands for some time, but with core business focused on Pioneer plasmas. Now the latter are no more, i'd expect to see a greater mix of typically premium brands - the current high-end Philips set fit that profile very well, i'd say....
The thing about sevenoaks is they can still be expensive compared to the electrical av shop.
Thinking about sevenoaks and high end philip lcds, some must of done the old high end models in the past because I can remember some being in the clearance of sevenoaks in what hi fi magazines. They must of been expensive at the time otherwise they would have caught my attention more.
John Lewis will price match a local av shop and include there 5 year gurantee.
Most av electrical shops are now including 5 year gurantees and there cheaper prices.
When I brought my lcd I did not see it or read a review on it. I read the previous model's reviews and did see the previous one in John Lewis know.
Then I just to the plunge on the new model as soon as it came out. Worked out really well in the end.
Month later what hi fi reviewed it with 5 stars won all the awards and in my opinion still the best 32 inch lcd ever made.
Sounds very promising indeed! Didn`t realise the 5 year guarantee was becoming commonplace. I`d almost resigned myself to buying online with a two year guarantee because I couldn`t find the model I wanted locally.
Glad it all worked out well for you gel and thanks for the info. Hope I have as much luck when I buy mine!
My local shop are now saying instead of pioneer's
they are going to probaly go for Panasonic Plasmas. Apparently they are
the biggest selling one's.
I tryed to talk up the Philips high end lcds into it, we will have
to wait and see which way they will go I won't hold my breath know.
The higher-end Panasonic plasmas - especially those models designed for custom install - are indeed another popular Kuro successor for specialist retail. And, of course, currently available in significantly larger sizes than a Philips LCD!

As we've previously reported on the site, Philips made a conscious decision earlier this year to pull out of the big electrical stores and concentrate instead on selling through specialist and independent retailers, John Lewis, M&S, Littlewoods and some larger Tesco stores.
You can call them on 0870 9009070 to find your nearest stockist, or buy their TVs online through the Philips website store.
keep a close eye on this electical av shop hificonfidential.co.uk the 5 year gurantee is becoming a regular thing with them. There prices are always good as well. I always check there first for philip lcds and they are now doing leds.
It is a real pity the philips high end models are not show cased enough.

Will do. Cheers gel! Oh, and thanks also Andy for info.
that answers that then. funny, you'd think philips would want their products to be on sale everywhere though. i agree that john lewis, while competitive must have an old dinosaur for a buyer as they are always so far behind with new release products. lets just hope philips aren't heading the same way pioneer have gone. ps i'd hardly call littlewoods, m&s and tesco specialist nor independant !
