Just bought one... £709 from John Lewis (price matched Sound and Vision) I am in the process of reading the manual having not turned it on yet. If anyone is thinking of picking one up in a mark 3 Mondeo, it will fit in through the rear passenger door if you put the back seat up (leave the back supports in place) and put the front seats forward, then put the front passenger seat all the way back to keep the plasma in place. I can't believe how much bigger than my 28in CRT it is.... not looking forward to the wife coming home... eek! I'll update this thread with how I feel about it later.

Have you yet to get it out of the carton? If so you may need to pray that she's in a co-operative mood...

I had to go for the 37 inch verson as the only place the 42 inch would have fitted was inside the open fireplace. The missus called that sacralidge - I'd call it the unstopable march of progress.

I'll be very interested in your views on the picture geometry.

Ah yes... forgot to mention... I managed to get it out of the box and set it up on its stand all on my lonesome in about 10 minutes. Saying that... I have been moving 100kg 3m long railway sleepers around all weekend, so manouvering this was easy in comparison. If your arms are shorter than mine, I wouldn't risk it.

I am this second watching SD BBC2 (ready steady cook). The black backdrop really shows off this telly. I would say it is comparable to the CRT that it has replaced. As for the picture, I am really suprised. I thought it was going to be a lot worse, the freeview tuner in this set is excellent. Just noticed the light bouncing off Ainsleys head... lol. My next door neighbour recently bought a 32in Samsung LCD.... Even with the difference in size, the panny kicks its ass! Better get down the florists before she comes home!!

Have had mine for 3 weeks now and love it Just LOVE it!!!

Would this be for a floral peace offering
or
thinking ahead and sorting the flower arrangements for your own funeral he he.

Had the 42px80 for 6 days now and no complaints

Just tell her that you have improved the view. Hope the flowers work They worked for me

once upon a time now im on death row. Some women just dont understand our needs, wants, hopes and

dreams.

Well this woman would love to come home and find a 42" TV all set up and ready to enjoy!

The cat's out of the bag.... I couldn't exactly cover it up with something. It has been well and truly sugar coated with the fact that I got £190 off the list price and with a 5 year guarantee to boot. She's happy. It was harder work convincing her that it was a good idea to buy the 605 and the MA BRAV pack I am watching SD Simpsons.... AMAZING!... Is it me or does the picture keep getting better?
