in the review it says " this could be the best plasma weve tested to date "

well is it? i presume it was compared side by side to the in house referance set "the kuro"?

so if it's the best plasma to date, it's better than that? right?

and is therefore the best tv tested to date, full stop.

it's whfi's new referance tv?

or is it?

ta.

There would be little point in comparing a current set with a model out of production for two years.

Didn't we do all this this time last year, max?

Anyway, Supertest in the August issue, in the shops and available for download on Thursday.

No, I think that's just in the mind of the 'Is this the Kuro-killer?' fanatics.

Just out of curiosity, and picking up on something Andrew refers to, can anyone explain why matters tend to get heated whenever the possibility of a TV bettering the last-gen Pioneer is raised? It always seems that there's more at stake than is rational.

It's called brand equity - based partly on the fact they were great products, and partly on a mythology that has built up around them. I also think that the fact that they're no longer available helps.

i think its probably safe to say that the 42VT30 is the best 42" plasma ever.. as pioneer never made a fully hd 42" plasma.. or at least not a 9g version..

Having sold Pioneer Kuro's in the past I can honestly say that the VT30 is an amazing screen but i'm really not sure it is "better" it may have better black levels, but im not too sure it's better overall than the KRP-500A if anything they are on par.
