Overkill

I have the chance of a pair of Epos es22 speakers for under £300. Would I be correct in assuming that these speakers would be overkill on my existing marantz 6002 cd and amp.

I am currently using monitor audio br5 speakers, would the es22's be a much better speaker?.

I am only a beginner in the world of hifi but think I have got the bug

Ordinarily, with most components, I'd say yes, it is an overkill. However, when it comes to speakers it's a little different, assuming they're not difficult to drive (low decibels and Ohms). This is where my logic falls a little flat: I've heard the Epos M12s but not the ES range.

i'd say that better speakers are the best way to a better sound, but only if the amp can drive them properly. no idea in your case, not familiar with the kit or speakers.
