im buying the Sony BDP-S760 player soon and was wondering what the sound would be like through an optical cable to my sony dav-is10? will i be able to to hear the true hd etc?

cheers

optical cables don't have the capacity to carry full HD soundtracks, only HDMI does.

you'll be able to listen to the dolby digital (and DTS, assuming your system decodes that too) only.

Worth noting though that, on DTS tracks, with Blu-Rays you'll get the full 1.5 Mbps potential standard DTS offers rather than the standard 754 Kbps that most DVD DTS tracks have. So there could be some improvement on some discs.

Always nice to know until you get the upgraded system I think
